Many companies are too secretive, too cheap, and too lazy to design their products with environmental values in mind.
Marketers are lathering themselves, and their clients, up in a slippery, slimy greenwash.
Being green is so trendy right now that many companies are hiring marketing companies to make them seem green, when in fact they are just spinning the same old products.
Let’s hit the man where it hurts.
Start exposing greenwash. Let your friends, family, and the internet know everything you can about deceptive environmental advertising.
Stop trashing old computers and electronics. There’s someone local who would love them. Maybe they would be interested in building something. Send them a link to this site!
Stop recycling without checking out local recycling businesses. Many claim to dispose of electronics properly, when it fact much of it ends up in foreign countries, in illegal “recycling towns” where it’s poisoning the water and children. Ask recycler about where their recycled materials go!
Start pressuring companies to actually use recycled components in their products. If there’s a perception that it’s important to consumers, then companies and their shareholders will listen, and they will have to change.
